Transitions: Creating a Beautiful Earthly Departure
Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 1-3 p.m.
Great Lakes Therapeutic Massage

Also available via Zoom
As human beings, we will all make our transition from this earth school. The very thought of death is often fraught with angst, fear and avoidance of the topic altogether, that is until a tragedy, or some life-altering situation presents itself and families are catapulted into having to make difficult decisions while dealing with a tidal wave of emotions, but it doesn’t have to be this way.
The specifics about what a person wants, what needs to be avoided, and other important intricacies concerning their transition, can and should be discussed now, when they are well, and can feel supported in this vulnerable exchange. In doing so, we remove the fear, replace it with knowledge, and then place that knowledge into the hands of the right coach for the job. That transitional coach can then ensure the process of dying will become a beautifully planned experience, filled with meaning for the individual, and those closest to them.
Register for the session and come away enlightened, empowered and equipped to begin the planning process with loved ones, as well as your own unique & meaningful transition.
Participants will:
• Identify what it means to be a person and to have care and services that are person-centric;
• Understand the importance of making advanced care planning decisions before health issues arise;
• Review state specific regulations and documents pertaining to the advanced care planning process;
• Identify treatment interventions that may occur when advanced care planning directives are absent;
• Outline how to create a meaningful transition beyond timelines, medicine and geography; and
• Indicate strategies to broach such delicate topics with loved ones.
About the speaker: Rhonda Palmiero is a registered nurse, healthcare administrator and educator with over thirty years of experience. She has bore witness to many transitions that could have been much different if the death and dying process had been discussed and planned before the individual reaches that pivotal moment when hard choices have to be made. She brings a plethora of academic as well as experiential knowledge that will create thought-provoking conversation and insight about the topic.
A PowerPoint presentation will be used and participants will receive handouts with all the information presented along with references for future use.
The venue will not be providing food, snacks or beverages. Please dress comfortably and bring whatever you choose in terms of snack or drinks.
